Chronological history:

1967: Established in Antwerp, Belgium as Komatsu’s first subsidiary outside Japan, with an initial staff of 7 people
1969: Moved to Haren, near Brussels
1973: Moved to its current location in Vilvoorde, north of Brussels
Komatsu Europe Parts Distribution Centre is established in Vilvoorde
10.250m2 covered storage (internal height: 6m)
1974: Signing of the twinning charter by the cities of Vilvoorde, Belgium and Komatsu, Japan
1989: Komatsu Europe Coordination Center (KECC) is established for the promotion of the European venture
1990: First large extension of the distribution centre

9.000m2 non-covered storage
1992: Celebration of 25 years Komatsu Europe. The guests included Mr. Jean-Luc Dehaene, Prime Minister of Belgium, Mr. Yatabe, Japanese ambassador, and Mr. Moyson, mayor of Vilvoorde.
1995: Change to ‘Business Unit’ organization
1996: KEISA takes over 100% of the shares of KOMATSU France
2001: Temporary warehouse extension (until the large extension has been realised)
3.000m2 covered storage
2002: Start of construction of the second large warehouse extension (to be finalised end 2003): 9.120m2 covered storage (internal height: 10m)
Smaller parts will be stored in an automatic elevator system with 12 shuttles
New offices for the Parts Department: 2 floors of each 1.000m2
2002: New organizational change ‘Teaming Up’ with a more centralised approach to further improve the efficiency of the company
